A complicated mixture of numerous different hydrocarbons makes up jet fuel. The range of their sizes is constrained by the product’s parameters, such as the freezing point or smoke point (molecular weights or carbon numbers). While kerosene-type jet fuel (which includes Jet A and Jet A-1) has a carbon number range between 8 and 16 carbon numbers, wide-cut or naphtha-type jet fuel (which includes Jet B) has a carbon number distribution between about 5 and 15.
